To the glistening eastern sea, I give you Queen Lucy the Valiant. To the great western woods, King Edmund the Just. To the radiant southern sun, Queen Susan the Gentle. And to the clear northern skies, I give you King Peter the Magnificent.
Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia.
In a waay old vlogbrother’s video, John recommended David Foster Wallace’s 2005 commencement speech. I filed it under my “Things To Look At Next Time” list and it sat there for about half a year. Then my cousin came to visit last August, and we got to talking about David Foster Wallace. He said that that speech changed his life, and I dug it up out of my list and listened. And listened again. And again. And again. Maybe it’s simply that I listened to the speech at a time in my life when I was seriously feeling lost, future-plans-wise. Maybe it’s just that DFW was a fucking genius. Maybe it’s something else entirely. Whatever the reason, this speech was a game changer. Go check it out.
I was like “What, I don’t get i-OH MY GOD I GET IT!”
